bpsibley, I too feel the same way, though I have my own home, I no longer
have a home to go home to at Thanksgiving or Christmas -- it does leave you with an empty feeling, that hopefully future time will be able to fill!

I know the feeling...
My mother's house was left to me.  It wasn't practical to keep it when I don't live there; My husband finally convinced me of that.  My sister bought it from me in order to keep it in the family as it sits between her house and our brother's.  I am still moving my stuff out of it.  It will stay in the family, but it is unoccupied and in bad shape.  I feel guilty for taking my sister up on her offer to buy it.  I meant to keep it and to fix it up someday when I retired.  It's is so hard when there's no home to go to anymore.
