Very interesting, FSI - the dress code, strike zone (never heard the
term applied in that way before, lol) and the minimum wage education. So sad how many
are expected to
live on it and yes you would think with two people it would be some easier but more expenses..

I liked the idea of demonstrating where a core group of students would be coming from and how it makes the job even more difficult! sam

FSI..I'm sure you made the right decision....
I sat here and shook my head at the big "to-do" about the dress code...seems like today there is either a very strict one in force (at schools or certain workplaces), or no dress code at all...back in the 60's in high school the girls all wore dresses or skirts and blouses and the guys were just expected to dress neatly...no jeans allowed...but by Gr.12 the miniskirt craze was in and that led to some interesting situations ..

its a sad fact that there are too many people having to live off minimum wage, even those that were once executives.

My previous wife who died of brain cancer was a high school teacher and I can tell you that you made a good decision not to go in that direction.Joyce worked like 80 hour weeks when you figured in her night time correcting, calls from troubled students at night, and very little respect from those in administration who had no teaching experience.

My thoughts went in many directions as I read this. For one, that living on minimum wage can really be a bugger, as is older people trying to live on Social Security alone.

Best choice
Good decision not to teach. Fopr those who remain on the chalk face the minimum wage thing is a daily personal reality those who progress into admin are not teaching anyway and itsa no surprise that ed administrators frequently hail from other idustries. Hope you settled happily in an alternative career.
