An old country superstition was that a black crow settling near was to bring bad luck. Perhaps it originated from this bird taking small livestock from smallholdings etc. Road kill might have partially changed its eating habits and the decline of the keeping of livestock. Thank you for your comments.

F I’ve seen our crow, eating the gizzard or another inner part of a dead animal hit by a car in the road. However I’ve never heard of them, taking away a live prey. In fact I don’t see crows, eating most of the time. I fed the birds corn kernels once in 1978. From then on the original raven that led the flock of crows and Calvin successors like the Pope and British throne with their flocks have stayed near me. BC-A, Bill’s RJLst

The laws of nature are sometimes hard to accept....I love seeing tigers and the deer alike, and just feel so sad that one has to kill the other.

I think that kind of sentimentality is only possible from the top of the food chain...

Oh my, powerful contrasts on the nature of nature...
Beauty and cruelty..I was pondering the complexities of things similar lately and it is mind boggling. Thought inducing post, RR.

Oh that is so sad and would be a good excuse for a bad golf score.

this spring in Decorah, Iowa by their fish hatchery they've set up
a web cam 24/7 with infrared light that the mother and her ducklings cannot see but actually since she's laid her eggs the entire world has been watching on... one time i saw her feeding them a dead carcass... maybe i'd do a sermon about the circle of life... to get to the site just google it at eagles decorah ia.raptor.net or something of that sort... enjoy!

I've noticed with my dog... when I tell him "it's all gone..."
as re the food i'm sharing with him... he simply accepts it and walks away seemingly without much feeling... you sure get a lot of action out on that golf course... really sad action i might add... i just looked at your really nice website... sounds so quaint over there in norwich... did a nine year old girl sound your call to be a priest? ... how cool is that... wonder what a child would say about what you saw... ???

R.R....
In ature's world, no one said it would be fair, just as in our realm of humanity...nature can be downright cruel, as can man,
but, on the other hand nature can be beautiful, as can man.

..(thus endeth the sermon...:)
