As you say, R.R., the older we get, the harder the sadnesses hit us...
It makes us cherish every moment we have while we're here.

I was pondering the other day
on how many people I sort of grew up with - not literally but who were around in the world pressing in on my youth via radio and television - who are reported as ill or dying. It's inevitable, I know, but inevitability doesn't make it easier does it. So sorry to hear of these losses.

The older we get, the more it is that way. My uncle died at 95 and for the last five years of his life he mourned that he was the only one of his generation still alive. He didn't like it. He had no children, no grandchildren, no old friends with whom to share memories, no family other than a few nieces, most of whom lived far away.

I suppose as one becomes older one has to accept this as no choice situation, it is nice if one can die peacefully and I suppose one can empathize to some extent, but of course not feel the lack of still wanting to live in most cases. It is sweet that one's presence can give comfort and offer a future blessing.

Sorry to hear about your loss and sadness. As we get older it is simply the course of life that dear ones will fall ill or worse, die. I'm already experiencing that and I'm only 57.

Death leaves the most gaping hole, and one reality that we can never get used to or accept. One can only give thanks that the departed were once part of our lives.
