No perhaps not Bob but one can buy a lot of pain killers. I actually saw this happen well with a bit of poetical licence, No it was not self afflicted.

That's the problem Shobana perhaps money does not buy happiness, but it does stop a lot of aches and pains. How nice to see you back again, I will savour it this afternoon.

And with all that he couldn't buy a little love for himself...but I understand that sometimes it takes time to learn how to spend properly, I am sure he will get it right next time.

I like how you do the contrasting in this poem. It takes the reader on quite a ride.
