Re:
Well, there's really not much to agree with, or disagree with, and I really wasn't intending on having any of my debunking taken seriously. If any of these "negations" brought a smile to your face or forced a chuckle out of you, then my task was completed. It would be nice though to be able to laugh and laugh and laugh and . . .

Not necessarily. I'm just having a bit of fun. Although some of these phrases, when taken literally, really don't make a whole lot of sense, we still use them anyway. And as the saying goes: there's more where that came from!

Fun reading. I recognise pretty much all of those sayings. Some interesting observations were made. I would have to admit to not having agreed with you on all of them. The one about learning something new everyday - I would still interpret that to mean that the fact you learn is new to you, when you learn it. It's a new fact for you.
There's a funny line by Ricky Gervais' David Brent in The Office (UK) - he references - whilst addressing a room full of people, giving what's supposed to be a motivational techniques speech - the saying about the grass not always being greener on the other side. Any time I hear that saying now i'll instantly be reminded of that scene. He's so stupid in it - he goes on and on about how laughter is the best medicine, proceeding to laugh, and laugh, and laugh, and laugh, and laugh, trying to provoke his audience into doing the same - they don't!
Good topical blog.
