We always used to meet at my maternal grandmother's house before Christmas to do our gift giving with those on that side of the family. Now with me having her house I continued the tradition.

I hid my boys gifts at a friends place ...she hid hers at mine

She had little girls. I put some of them under my bed and they were all opened one end a few days later. Two little boys had rather long faces...were they really going to get a Barbie doll with doll clothes and asome girlie clothes and books! Thanks for reminding me...I had forgotten this story.

Memories are always good and they always stay. I don't really celebrate Christmas but I love the jolly and sentimental feel that Christmas offers.

I'll have to ask my children if they ever did that - although I doubt it because I always put any gifts under the tree late Christmas Eve, after they were all sleeping. Even as teenagers they were told Santa only came by when all were a-bed.  We tend to follow traditions we had as children, and that how it was done in most of the families my brother and I stayed with, so obviously we never got the chance to do any peeking either.

I must confess, my sister and I did the un-taping bit a couple of times as teenagers! The trick is being sure parents are out for a time and being VERY careful not to tear the paper as you lift the tape! It works best on the shiny, glossy wrapping paper!
