Traditions are just as important to the kids as they are to us older folk, I believe. Certainly in my family, and I can see it's the same in your family too. My grandson (21) and his sister (19) drove 3 hours through a snowstorm to be here for our traditional Christmas supper yesterday. Even the little ones (4 & 6) waited patiently for their arrival before thinking of opening one gift. The older ones go on to other parties after the supper, but no matter what, they want to be with us on Christmas day. I love it!!!

You were right to carry on with the tradition. I think it is a wonderful tradition and apparently your grandchildren also think so!
