LOL! I like your Mom, she has the right idea - a Border Collie will keep her young! BCs are smart, but crazy - they'll 'herd' anything, including furniture!
There's one in our neighbourhood who sometimes tries to 'herd' Jag, my Standard Poodle! Jag's the friendliest doggie imaginable, but he hates being herded, and luckily that Collie is smart enough to keep out of range of his teeth...

Sometimes mothers need a bit of house training, don't they.
I think something happens to our personalities when we hit 80 or thereabouts. We get loose and crazy, like hippies who've been restrained by fear of public opinion and wake up one day thinking screw it, it's my life and I'll live it however I want. And the stuff we love best, the most addictive, is exactly what we should avoid -- like a frail, sedentary woman taking on a border collie that needs long runs and herding games.
