Jeff, the reason to have any medical test on any part of the body...
is so you don't have to live in fear that maybe there might be something wrong...why else do we go to the doctor for an annual checkup?...Or do we avoid that out of fear, too? Don't get me wrong, I am not one of these people who run to the Doc's for every test, but I think "preventive maintenance" for a person is a must, just like it is for a car. I guess it all depends on what type of "fear" we're more "comfortable" with...
Was the test fun? No, no way, but for peace of mind I had it done (at age 64 it was high time) and to stop finding excuses not to..
..
Its up to you, my friend.

My doctor has recommended that I get a colonostemy
but so far I'm choosing not to do it. I feel like to have a colonostomy is to make a decsion based on fear and I don't want to live my life that way.

Jay, I thought I hated it, too, and its still not my favorite test..
but I think we (me) tend to blow it out of proportion.

thanks, Troosha...
It is an invasive test, but a person's imagination can run away on them and "make" it worse than it actually is...(like I did)..

thanks, sam, and it was true....
The preparation work was the worst part...the test itself wasn't bad at all.

Be proud of yourself that you're doing it. Most people defer and defer (or don't go at all) because of the potential discomfort.

Poor luv....Wiley is having one of those when I have come back home
and can be with him. You have my hand to hold...I worked as a casual for about 5 years in a day surgery where we mainly did these. Funny, they never gave me any discomfort at all. LOL.
