Re: Re: Straightforward
It all started with a family antique snow globe with a little Santa carrying a bag over his shoulder. It belonged to my husband's aunt back in the 1960's when one of my boys managed to drop and break the globe. She was cleaning up the mess when she asked if I would like to have the little figure that was inside the snow globe. I took it home and sat it on top of the piano. The next Christmas, my sister gave me a Santa figure to stand with him on the piano. After that they just seemed to multiply.

Silly
I have a silly collection. When walking my dog I spot check for rubber bands, because paper distributors many times take the rubber bands off the advertisements. I bring them home, wash them in Dawn and occassionally give my daughters a handful of them. I can stand waste.

Re: TAPS' comment
Tell me, did someone give you a Santa Claus, to start with? Or do you yourself have some memory of what possibly made you start the collection. Did you have a lot of figure artists around your place, or a market where they brought their wares? Were your friends also into collecting figures - of maybe some other character?

So, tell me. Why did I start collecting Santa Claus figures years ago, and how do I contextualize that with the rest of my life and with the first eleven months of each year?
