So much depends on the reader himself. Some readers are very picky and if they find too much that bothers them they will stop reading that writer. Other readers do not seem to be bothered by typos or diction and just focus on the content.

That's an interesting perspective! I think editing is very important to ensure that the story is being told the way it was intended! Indeed, you are correct there are folks out there to do the editing if one is not into it! sam

Well, I think that editing is almost as important as the story, because even a minor error can change the complexion completely. Many times I've been with someone telling a story and when they used an incorrect word or misused one, the tale can become confusing!

I am not too keen on the editing process either. I have been able to force myself and develop an editing routine thankfully.

Great advice, Bel. Too often we're listening to our inner censor,
instead of getting the story told. It says "you can't say that, it will hurt someone's feelings," or something picky about the grammar. There's something so full of life and meaning in it if we just let go and put it on paper (or the monitor).

As a writing coach, I hear this a lot...
You are talking about talent, which is a great thing to have, but it is worth honing the skills to go with it.
