Re:

Yeah, that's a good one too, Sam. Not only would it be ironic, but it would also be kinda sad!

An example of irony for me would be someone who spent years wearing braces only to have their teeth fall out at the end of the process! LOL! It's all I could come up with at this time! sam

Re:

And I'm sure, Against, that she probably didn't see the irony in that at all . . . or else chose not to!

Oh, come on, TAPS! It wasn't that funny! Or was it . . . ?

Re:

That's a good one too, adnohr. And I think it would have been even more ironic if you had a bike in the back of your truck as well!

Ironic:  Madeleine O'Hara (the famous late atheist) had a son, and he later became a Christian.

I got my laugh for the day reading lustorlove's comment.

A couple of years back, I was driving my truck, and on my way home, met my friend who was riding our Harley We both stopped, I parked on the shoulder, and he pulled up beside the driver's door to talk to me. The bush road is narrow, and I told him that he'd better move before a car came over the hill and hit him. He was facing in the opposite direction, so gassed the bike and pulled in behind me. Wanting to get more on the shoulder myself, I put the truck into gear and stepped on the gas. I had put it in reverse instead of drive, so guess who hit my friend and knocked him off the bike? LMAO still thinking about it. That was ironic! I'm all for synchronicities, but coincidence? Not so much.

Re: JimmyA

Cool, Wiley! I have an Uncle Joe and a cousin Danny and a cousin Terry! Hmmm . . . any Polish in your ancestry?

Re:

Thanks, mariss. Once in a while it's fun to throw a slight challenge out there for everybody. But you're right . . . not something to ponder during the wee hours of the morn!

JimmyA

That was another co-incidence with you having a Mike and John as brothers. I had Mike, Terry, Joe and Danny for brothers.

Too early in the moring to think that hard, coincidental for now!  So much irony or idiocy I can't begin to name it all.  Interesting lesson.

Re:

Well, Bright, as for that particular scenario, I'd have to say it's a coincidence. I think the irony might have been if you had a reply for the first question, but not the second ( provided the questions were similar ). Or perhaps you may have been just the victim of a momentary loss for words. But guess what? You still replied! Thanks!

Re:

See, FSI? It's not so easy, is it? Some things you might have thought were ironic may really have been coincidences. Keep thinking . . . !

Hi..Is it ironic or coinsidence that this is the second question that was put to me today that leaves tis Irishwoman without a reply?

You really got me thinking here.

Re: perhaps it is Ironic that having said all my life that I love to travel

Yes, Kabu, that would be a good example of irony. It's also a good example of "taking a chance" that really turned out wonderful. I'll have to admit, I'm not much of a "risk-taker" myself, but, as they say, "nothing ventured, nothing gained!"

Re: JimmyA

Well, Wiley, I'm going to assume that when you say you salvaged "body parts," you meant the bodies of the pilots and not the planes. I don't envy you having to do that particular task, and I suppose having to do that would be coincidental. Sorry to hear of your brother, but here's another coincidence . . . I too have a brother named Mike and a brother named John!

Re:

Yeah, Utah, sometimes one can look at life in general as one, big irony. People are in different circumstances, but the circumstances can overlap. Sometimes it's a coincidence . . . sometimes it's ironic!

perhaps it is Ironic that having said all my life that I love to travel

but I could never live outside of Australia yet here I am happiest time of my life, Living in Canada.

How about this coincidence Jimmy? My brother Mike was a WO1 in the RAF flying the Himalayas, shot down and killed in 1944. In 1954 as his brother John, I was in aircraft salvage picking up body parts from crashes, in the RCAF in Europe.
