Obviously, luster, museums aren't for everyone. I know others who are actually quite bored with them, regardless of what they're showcasing. That's okay. To each his own.

Re: JimmyA

Sounds good, Wiley! I'd love to dine at an eatery named after one of the Stooges! Or was it named after someone else? LOL  Just kiddin'! Yes, a trip to the Great White North has always been on my list of "things to do." Someday . . .

Re:

Thanks, Doc! Like I said, although I myself enjoy primarily historical museums, there seems to be plenty of other types of museums that cater to a huge variety of tastes and interests. Nothing wrong with checking out and discovering unique settings and learning something new!

I know, Kabu, I know! I was just teasin' about the dollar stuff. I'm quite certain that Mr. Graysome is well taken care of, and is probably borderline spoiled. Or is it over the line by now?

It might be, Kabu. From what I understand, the Smithsonian grows constantly, in both size and amount of viewable items. I think it's been at least twenty years since I've been there myself. Yes, must get the wife down there!

Thanks for the list.  I can check out the one in St. Augustine.  I like to visit museums on a limited basis.  History was/is not my favorite, yet I know that it is essential!  Great work!

Re:

I'm not sure, mariss. That might take a little research, but there's probably a good chance that somebody has something related to that dreadful crash somewhere!

I guess the tragedy and the Smithsonian for me!! Interesting.  Where is something from James Dean's wreck? !

Re:

That's okay, adnohr. The main purpose of this particular list was to show some of the more unusual museums that are out there. I'm sure that whatever genre of museum you are a fan of, there's at least one out there somewhere to satisfy your curiosity!

Re:

That's a good way to do it, Sam. It never hurts to learn about our past, and to experience the rich backgrounds of many a town or city. My favorite kinds are historical museums. I'm always amazed at the progression of our march through time, and of the creative things people left behind on their own journeys. I wonder what new museums of the future might hold!

I, too, have been to the Smithsonian, Kabu, more than once in fact, and it was completely fascinating. However, my wife has never had the pleasure. Another "trip" on our list of things to do. And no, I won't call it a "bucket list." That would indicate that our time is short, and I'd rather not think along those lines!

Re:

Well, TAPS, I didn't see anything about a "quilt museum" on the list I had come across, but I wouldn't doubt that there might be at least one out there somewhere! Why not? Let's take a look . . . Well, what do you know about that? There's one in Kentucky, one in Virginia, another one in Massachusetts, one in Texas, one in California, and there's even one in Colorado! Take a look for yourself! Happy hunting!

That's cool, FSI. But I'm somewhat perplexed. Explain to me what those "awesome nouns" might be.

Re: JimmyA

They all sound wonderful, Wiley. I really hope one day my wife and I can make a trip to Canada. Believe it or not, I have a pen-pal who lives in Montreal ( we met in a chat room many years ago, and have stayed in touch ). She too boasts of the beautiful sights of her fair city, enticing us to finally head to the Great White North ( she lives on the Parc Marguerite Bourgeoys and has sent us some fantastic photos! ) Someday . . .

The dollar shop, Kabu? That's all he gets to splurge on himself? A dollar? Will that cover the cost of the box and the litter? What about his after-potty snack? Hmmm . . . ? Talk about a kitty traveling on a shoestring! Or is that a yarn string?

I'm a fan of museums too - most of the ones you listed would NOT be on my list though.

I am a big fan of museums! My kids didn't like it when they were growing up but once they were grown they thanked me for taking them! When on vacation, if a town had a museum, we were there! sam

I would love to go to the soup tureens museum.    I didn't know there was such a place.  I also just love anything to do with quilts and quilt history.

Excellent post my friend and you must take your wife to:

The Château Ramezay is a museum and historic building on Notre-Dame Street in Old Montreal, opposite Montreal City Hall.

Built in 1705 as the residence of then-governor of Montreal, Claude de Ramezay, the Château was the first building proclaimed as a historical monument in Quebec and is the province’s oldest private history museum. It was designated a National Historic Sites of Canada in 1949.

Over the years, the Château changed owners and functions several times, with Ramezay's descendants selling the manor to the fur-trading Compagnie des Indes.

right now. Just wanted to say to your beautiful wife that no Mama won't let him. Mr. Graysome, put in a little potty. Too sniffy. He must buy a cheapo from the dollar shop when he gets there.
