I know what you mean by unexpected visitors and the internal trauma they can bring before one knows the scoup! sam

Bush Woman
I would not be competent to care of pits but I love my cats the same and don't like people getting into our business.

You and your doggies always make me smile. I have so much respect for you and them. I would never take on two pits of my own, but I love reading about yours. I had the sweetest doggie once. Chipper was a beautiful collie/golden retriever mixture that I took over for my oldest son when he went into the US NAVY. He was already getting old when Mark left and he passed on before Mark came back.

I imagine the not so good have to do with the police; hopefuly not the dogs
And thank you - it's gratifying to know people enjoy reading what we write.

Definitely thankful it wasn't anything worse, JimmyA,
and my dogs are very good about letting me know if something is going on. There are certain vehicles, those of my sons & daughter, when they will just give a couple of short barks - telling me it's a friend arriving. With unfamiliar cars though, they raise the roof!

Not living on my own anymore, C.C.T.
In fact, my house is full, what with rug rats and dogs and son returning!
Just the same, dogs are a sure deterrent for would-be thieves, or racoons who play in the garbage. I actually admire police for the job they do - but it's rarely good news when one finds them parked in your driveway!

I hope so too, Pat_B
Sally's chemo treatments have already cost her master more than $8000.00, and still counting. He is a very good master, knows dogs well. The full story has not been heard yet, but the only reason we can think of would be trespassing, or the dog being threatened by the lady. It's extremely bizarre!

Oh yes - they quickly learn where the goodies are stashed!
No - I can't see my boys harming anyone, but I can't see Sally doing it either. I'm anxious to find out what really happened.

Dog bites have to be taken seriously anywhere, FSI
I will be surprised if it was really Sally who bit, but anything is possible.

Lot of memory triggers in this piece. Some good, some not so good. But your writing is a joy to read.

I guess you should be thankful that it wasn't anything worse! The doggies were just doing their jobs . . . letting you know that something was amiss! Hope the situation ends well!

WEll I am glad you have two good dogs Adnohr. It would hardly be wise to live on your own without them. I probably would want a team of huskies, but have to make do with a cat at present. WE could all submit a sign to put on your gate if it becomes law, but I suppose it is nice to have the police around at times. Hope you feel better today, better than yesterday.

Good for you, acting as a "defense witness" that way. I hope your
'testimony' as a disinterested party will go a long way toward helping the officers come to the right decision - and let poor Sally live her life in peace.

it amazes me how quickly our animal family members can learn what treats
mean and where they are kept. Graysome's treats are in a drawer in the living room and he loves that draw...he also knows where his tin food is and loves that cupboard as well.
I am so glad nothing to do with your boys but then they wouldn't harm anyone anyway.

It is a shame that Sally and her owner are in this position. I'm wishing them the best...In Baltimore dog bites have become a major issue.
