I so agree that it's fruitless to argue politics! There's never any common ground! I do like convincing someone to get out and vote though! sam

of course people should vote think of all the places where you can't vote
in Australia it is compulsory to vote.

I tell people who tell me they are not voting that they have no right to complain about what happens in the next 4 years.

As citizens in this great republic it is each of our responsibilities to know the candidates, the parties, their platforms, their aspirations, and to vote. When we vote we are delegating our political responsibilities to another citizen...We should know that citizen at least as well as we would know our children's baby sitter, or teacher. And yes, one person can make a difference in this country. When I call my congressman, or my senator not only do they know my name, but they know me, they remember our last conversation, they what my political feelings because in many cases I have been to their homes, helped with their campaigns.
