What a fun story! My Dad too would have had a hissy fit if my Mom had wanted to go out and work, although she never wanted to, LOL. She thought at one time she wanted to be a concert pianist ( that with Dad's support), but didn't quite have it.
But many years later she had a kind of studio in her house, helping disturbed kids deal with their problems through music and by having them paint, and became very successful...
And I love fresh pies! My favourite? Apple, with a nip of Calvados on the side...

Poor Mum your Dad should have taught her to drive. After all women had fought in the war and nursed etc. I once said to my Mum what would you do if a man hit you? She was only a tiny thing She said, I would get a stick and hit him back if it killed me. My dad would never have thought of harming her ,but he swore plenty at times. Let me lick the cream Taps.

Men! Ya can't live with 'em and ya can't shoot 'em....
Don't get it even even after studying all the feminist rhetoric, why some guys are so threatened by their woman's yearning for economic freedom. If she loves him, all her enterprise can do is add to his character by making him a bit more self-reliant and enabling him to be a full partner in the rearing of children, etc. - and her appreciation of his understanding will know no bounds. What could be better than a loving partnership between equals???

This is a lovely story. My mother worked at home only but she had business connections, she had a store, she raised some cattle such different things. She always made money from one direction or another. My dad never said a word about it. I didn't know women couldn't do what they wanted until I got out into the working world.

I missed the last postwith all that nasty water ...and the pie shop sounds
like hard work but obviously Mother loved it and the money. Life was different back then, My Dad would never even let my sister and I have a job when we left school let alone Mother.
