He's not the type of guy to worry about legalities, as long as he can get away with something

Thanks everyone, we will still have fun. He has some temporary prospects on the horizon that he can start right when we get back if he needs to. :)

That sucks! My wife was in the exact same boat! She got "layed off" ( that was two years ago ) but got involved with something that is now preventing her from finding another job. You're right . . . most unemployment benefits don't pay nearly enough. Best of luck!

Ouch is tight! But everything happens for a reason - there must be better things ahead.

Maybe he is best getting away from someone that "sketchy", he would probably pay for it later, if not sooner. I hope he finds somewhere better to work and that you are enjoying your cruise.

it takes so many companies 1 - 2 weeks to contact people about coming in for an interview...in the meantime enjoy the cruise and let it enervate him

He should apply for his benefits regardless of what anyone might say. These people have a way at getting the truth and some money is better than no money. Don't be fooled by the news, it is still a tough time to find work.

Not a real happy start to a holiday. Sorry to read this and it seems as
though your husband needs to start looking for a new job fairly quickly...perhaps you will meet someone on the cruise.
