Hahaha, TAPS!!
During his birthday supper, I told him that, if he gets this house, to keep a room open for his grandmother...who could feel like moving too, sometimes!

Ciel - thankfully Smooch was fine the next morning! SO no vet bills.
I think many parents resorted to those methods in those days - unfortunately when consistence doesn't pay off over a period of time, we have to fall back on a similar play, although not so harsh as then. Still, my 5 year old rug rat does need sometimes to learn that the consequences of being rude and lacking respect are NOT pleasant! Often words alone don't do it for him...he's visual. I find that if we can get children to burn off much energy doing physical things they enjoy, it helps enormously. Morning isn't really in that category though, is it?

You are so right, Kabu!
And I've had more than one person throughout the years tell me that meeting my pits have completely changed their perception of the breed....thankfully!!

You're right, Naut - I think that's what happened - cause he's fine now.
LOL - you'd be saying 'whew' often if you lived here....

You're right - he's healed and mistress is happy!
The kitties are much, much smarter than the doggies! Hmmm - yes - I can agree with your observation about the kiddies.

He's fine now, UtahJay, thank you!
He'll only be a year only at the end of December, but is a huge puppy! Vet thinks he'll get to around 120-130 pounds full grown. For the house...so far so good - waiting on news for the confirmation of mortgage.

Smooch is ok now, FSI, thank you.
I hope for Fred's sake that he is able to buy his first house too - it is brand new, has just been built. The meal was delicious, mostly because of the company, but I can enjoy a chocolate fondue even if I'm alone....

Don't worry about the kitties here, CCT:
There are so many places they can get higher than the dogs, and inside there is no problem - they all co-exist rather peacefully. Outside is another thing..then there was the hunter Louka in the melee - she doesn't share the house with us, so is not aware of the rules...and Smooch & Grump forgot in the heat of the chase, I guess.

My parents had a fit if on a weekend morning we lost our marbles...
Just one marble, rolling across those hardwood floors... We were quiet until they were awake, in their own good time. Sadly, their educational focus was not on teaching consideration, but fear. As if they never considered that we kids--6 and 8 yrs old--could learn such a concept as being quiet out of kindness and respect.
The little dog here turned an ankle the other day... went down some stairs funny, and then wouldn't use the foot... then limped... and a few minutes later, all was fine. I hope your pooch is feeling better. I'd also hold off on the vet unless the trouble lasts beyond a couple of days.

You have a way of making all things meld together. Your patience is incredible, your strength awesome and your wisdom is to be admired greatly. I love these stories and I think many a parent could learn a lot from your writing while enjoying a good read at the same time. Be blessed and let us know how the sleep over goes. I think the new living arrangements will be wonderful.

love that picture of the doggies, the little one wisely sleeping where he
can stretch out and not risk getting squashed. Grump is a wonder dog and needs to be written up about to help save his breed. He just shows how it is the owner not the dog that is the problem and he does love you.

I think Smooch will be alright - the big doggies will sometimes pull a muscle when they're really active; Ben will sometimes do that when he chases a ball and turns too swiftly, but it takes care of itself within a day or two...
As for the other part? Whew...

I love these visits to your home in the bush...
Smooch will heal and be the better for it, but the kitty better watch it. Can't wait to see your report on the slumber party -- Kids are so much fun when I don't have the responsibility of civilizing them.

Goodness Adnohr, you must have the patience of Jove. I wonder what would have happened if the dogs had caught the kitty. Perhaps Smooch will just get better he is only a puppy really, those vet Bills are frightening . So easy to buy a house out there
A friend of ours has lost 4and a half thousand having houses checked over and then discovering faults in the structure and extensions without planning permission.
