not sure if there is such a thing as blame...the thing right now to do is what is best for the individual. stay and take care of what is left and do your best to fend for yourself .... or find somewhere to migrate that provides warmth and shelter.
The only problem with that is...what if you only means of transport was gone in the hurricane and what if your bank and funds are locked up cuz of the storm...what do you do then?

What about individual initiative? If you just sit there in the face of it
is it the government's or the neighbor's job to pick you up and carry you to safety?
Folks have been so sheltered for so long they've lost touch with nature, with the need to be prepared, with even the minimum 3-day supply of food, water, and sterno to heat water. Guilty of it myself these days. Every home in northern climates should be equipped with wood-burning stove or fireplace and as new ones are built, a generator should be part of the design plan.

The government cannot help them as they would like to have us think, no more than when Katrina came, but the media will never say bad things about this President.

Kabu & Wiley, I know. I feel the same. It's worrisome when some people don't know if they're in danger, and some of those guys, avoiding the community center shelters out of pride or good taste, could be dead soon. They think someone higher up in government has their best interests at heart.
