I'm catching up reading you sis. In the previous post I suggested you get a shovel to handle that lush and now in this post you did. I'm proud of ya sis. Wo, life is so exciting for you, I'm happy we are more quiet here. LOL

LOL.  I can take long if it is interesting--and yours definitely always are.

I worry about his dogs too, Utah

In fact, I spent the rest of that night worrying that he was too drunk to take care of their injuries. I haven't seen them back here yet, so don't know. I thought of calling SPCA (Animal shelter) but the neighbours agreed that it could cause a hassle for all of us, especially Louka, who makes her rounds rountinely, but is such a good and sociable dog! The truth? I fear the realization that I was on HIS land during the skirmish is the only thing that kept me from slugging him outright!! It would have been a real hassle with the authorities.

A lawyer won't do, Kabu

unless all of us are willing to tie our own dogs. A fence will help - or maybe his dogs will get loose during hunting season and shot by mistake.  The boys and I haven't really talked about it yet - I'm still too uptight - but they did say they heard everything we said. As long as they don't start going around using some of the words I used....

Already tried that Nautikos. I've been to see him at least 5 times

when he was sober. I even suggested that he call me when he was letting his dogs loose, and I would make sure that mine were shut inside with me. He could do it during the weekdays for an hour or so while the rug rats are at school and daycare. Each neighbour offered to meet his dogs in an attempt to socialize them. He agrees when he is sober, then goes on regular binges, gets maudlin and feels sorry for them being shut in, and opens the door to let them go. He's a damned idiot!!

Most of the dogs in this area are tolerated loose, JimmyA

and till now each neighbour took the time to train their own animals to be sociable. The rest of us fear that the authorities will oblige us to tie our own too. We're trying to come up with a solution together.

Thank you Justi, and George!

Women will do what they can to protect their own. The problem all stems from that idiot NOT training his dogs. It's really a pity, they are beautiful animals, but probably wasted now. That alone makes me angry!

I agree with the fence, FSI, and we'll have to install gates too.

It's very expensive though, which is why it hasn't been put up yet.

I usually carry pepper spray when I go outside now, CCT

And yes - the boys are afraid of those dogs, which is probably part of what kept them staying where they were told. I have a feeling the foot will take awhile to heal.

No, Ciel, because other dogs run loose here, mine included.

But mine stay on my property, they've been trained that way. I'm waiting for my temper to completely cool down before talking it over with the boys. They don't need to hear any more swear words at the moment.

Thanks, BC-A

It was a relief to get it down on paper. Took some steam out of me.

He's such a blooming idiot, Pat_B!!

I still grit my teeth when I think of him. He's using his medication as an excuse too - not supposed to drink with it either!

Yes, TAPS. We are fine...this time, and thanks to Grump and Louka.

Sorry about it being so long, but I began ranting.....

I do hope your foot gets better. I am like you, it takes a lot to get me going but once started it is hard to stop. Anger is a funny thing and there is nothing like loved ones, animals or kin in danger that stirs anger so quickly. I am happy that you had it about you to see the situation for what it was and turn for home when you did...I'm pretty sure I would have ended up in jail on a night like that, anger has a way of bringing the old marine out in me. I am just so thankful that you, the children and the dogs are all okay, but I do worry for his dogs, they shouldn't have to live a life like that...God bless

So well written that I felt much emotion while reading....you are a wonder

Leader of the Pack. All your family daoggie and babies obeyed you and you can take real pride in that.

The old sod next door deserves a mighty big scare, and there is one thing that having sons and Grandsons has taught me...there is something in the male that as a woman I don't understand. But those little males will admire your ability to get physical when the cause is just. A good fist throw is something that their testosterone or whatever goes ...YES!!!

Love you and go see a lawyer me thinks.

I certainly hope you get over your injury soon! As to that scene: I do admire your restraint, and that of your doggies! Drunk or no drunk, I know I would have decked the guy if he had made the first move, even if it was on his property!

You might want to talk with your lawyer about the whole situation.

Having said that, I am all for peace among neighbours, and you might be able to achieve something if you had someone arrange a meeting with him (while he is sober, LOL) talk calmly with him, and possibly have him agree to conduct himself properly and not let his dogs run free...

Geez, what an ordeal! It's not only a shame to have to deal with neighbors like that, but a shame that the dogs have to deal with that type of owner as well! Could the authorities be forced to get involved, or would you rather not go in that direction? I hope your foot heals soon!

Well dear one you did what you had to do. It scares me to think of the babies there. You have trained your dogs well and I thought the old dude should have been hit over the head with the shovel. George loves my reading your blogs to him. He loved this one so much he said. "I love that woman she has good sense, resolve and will clean any plow that bothers her children and/or dogs." He said what I think too. I am sorry your were hurt.  to you the boys and doggies.

That neighbor is irresponsible to say the least. That fence is going to be a great investment with a guy and his dogs like that.

Don't worry, a good job you can head the pack. The old boy will come to a sticky end if he's not careful. It is a good job the children have faith in you and did not run off in panic. One day you could write a story about it, but get your foot well again first. I would also carry a short iron bar to bonk any vicious animal.

I think maybe you actually could have him charged with child endangerment.

And it is not a bad thing for your little ones to see that you can be fierce and very un-shy about expressing yourself.  They will sort it out.  Maybe you can ask them what they think about that night, in fact, and open a discussion that will help do that.

Oh, Jeez. It's too bad you can't charge the SOB with assault

with a deadly weapon... Endangering the welfare of a child ... something. Being drunk is no excuse - he gets drunk for the purpose of acting like a sub-human. My only real disappointment in this whole misadventure is that he did not tumble off the deck. Your grandsons did not see a bad example in you - what you did was admirable.

I could hardly read it all.  The whole thing scares me.  I'm so glad that you and all of your loved ones are all right and not in any trouble.
