Nautikos...
The all-season tires we had did pretty good, at least when they were new. It is the over active traction control that cuts the power whenever there is wheel spin that is the problem. I have known for years snow tires were the real solution, it was just a matter of economics, really. I have a 4x4 pickup that we generally use when we anticipate bad weather but I believed the "weather guessers" and didn't expect that much snow.

I'm glad everything went well! But one thing caught my eye - the statement that you put winter tires on your car 'this year', which suggests to me that you didn't do so in previous years! In northeast Washington State? How did you ever manage before?
We here in this part of southern Ontario don't get much snow (right now there's none whatsoever), but I wouldn't dream of driving in winter without snow tires. Aside from giving you superior traction in snow, the composition of the tire compound is designed to work better under cold conditions...food for thought...LOL

I'm not sure who may "overrate" this episode, or even consider it an adventure, but I guess the lesson learned here is to always be prepared . . . regardless.
