As a grandmother and buyer
and shipper of grandious gifts (as well as an occasional practical thing) I confess that it is all an effort to be recognized, remembered and loved. At least for me it is and maybe a little bit for them too.

This makes me think of my ex-in laws....
They were awful at Christmas while we were married....since the divorce they've been more in tune with the children.....I wrote a poem after one Christmas spent with them during the marriage....I will post it in my blog, Observing life....

Mum,
the kids have you, that is the biggest most wonderful gift a child can have.A mum. One day, your ex will wake up and realize if he had just left "mum" alone with her kids and paid his support, his kids will be fine people. Dad's are simply a fact of life,in most cases "mums" are the very nourishment of life. Don't even try to give your ex and his family advice, they don't want to hear you, but do not join into competition with them!!Happy New Year!!

I still say by far
that the worst Christmas gifts are socks and underwear. Look at it this way, at least they are sending someting. Its the thought that counts, even though it sounds like not a lot of thought is going into it.
