It's bull terriers actually, Ciel.
And there are many different types, and hybrids even now. I use the term 'pit' for a reason; I'm trying to prove that this breed is NOT born wicked and dangerous, etc., just because they are 'pits'. I've had some success - many who were prejudiced against the breed have changed their minds since they've met my dogs. Every little bit counts!!

LOL - I was holding up their favorite treat, UtahJay.
Marrow bones. They love them!! Yes, Smooch is bigger than Grump now. He's not the same family of bull terrier. He's a floppy, loving doggie. Grump is much wiser!!

My doggies ARE adorable, SImone.
Any case of dogs turning bad ends up being a human's fault...sometimes intentionally, sometimes just plain ignorance about how to handle the animal. It breaks my heart.

Dogs have long memories - a dog hurt or scared him once obviously.
People should have to prove they are intelligent enough to have an animal before being allowed to care for one.

Unfortunate, but true FSI. The media doesn't help, of course.

Most doggies will respect those who respect them, Kabu.
They are actually much wiser than many humans.

Which goes to prove that is not the breed, but the treatment of the dog.
My son's favorite breed is the Shepherds.

Why are they still being called 'pits' ?
Don't they have a name less prejudicial? American bull terriers, or something? Or is that a different breed?

Naut is right... is not the dogs that are the problem but their owners... Here in Miami we had a case of a Pit bitting a child and everyone went into a uproar... but they did not see that the poor doggie had been trained to fight and was abused since he was a puppy... He saw the child as someone to compete with and attacked... Terrible for the kid but not really the poor dog's fault. Well the crazed people did not care and they outlawed owning Pits in South Florida!!! Ridiculous. YOur doggies looked adorable :-) xoxoxo

The dogs are never the problem - it's the people! My Benny has really changed for the better over this past year, although he remains very wary of and hostile towards other dogs, especially larger ones. I have not been able to find out what it was in his previous ennvironment that might have caused that...

I agree with you 100%. Pitbulls have been a big issue in Baltimore, but it's been a few who have ruined it for many.

i agree about animals. It is the bad handling or misunderstanding an
animal that causes problems. I adore your doggies. Actually I have never met a dog that I couldn't get respect from art the very least. You just enjoy those two who never let you down.

I've owned 3 German Shepherds, never a problem, the only dog that ever attacked me was a St. Bernard that was chained to a post in PEI, The following week it killed a child.

I know!! In fact, you have my favorite goaler, Jaroslav Halak. Well favorite after Carey Price, of course. Halak used to play for my team, and he is fantastic...and such a nice guy in his interviews. I'd like to steal him back!!

Hopefully the boys will retain what they learned while here, PatB
I tried to warn their parents - my dogs made allowances, but other dogs they meet might not. Every child should be shown how to treat any animal....with respect.

For one thing,TAPS, if people did do that
There would be no more sensation articles about dog attacks, unless they were defending their huumans from bad guys!! LOL - I've had people tell me that, if reincarnation is true, they want to come back as one of my dogs.

BC-A, any dog seems to sense if you're a good person.
Dogs get far less credit than they deserve (and many people get far more!!). My neighbour's beautiful rott comes to visit every morning - she's huge, and sweet!

LOL, grandma - chi'sare not my favorite breed either. Yappy.
My daughter just got herself one, it weighs about 1 1/2 lbs. She carries it around in her purse. I'll have to get a picture of it between my two 100 lb guys and then we can all laugh!!

I have a hunch you're right -- if pits were as aggressive as
Chihuahuas or Poms or Beagles, they'd really be the bad guys of dogdom. And it's definitely the owners who define the individuals. Woe betide parents who don't teach their children kindness when they are itty bitty.

äAw I’ve never seen a tough pit bull in this city. A puppy even befriended me. I don’t know the breed or mix of the big friendly dog that greets me on the way to the bus stop. He looks like a Rottweiler or some kind of bull dog mix love. BC-A, Bill’s R®st

It is unfortunate that the animals take the rap when it's the owner all along! They are truly adorable! It was a great game last night! And, tonight the Wings finally scored on a power play and a total of 4 goals in the second period! I am now dancing! LOL! sam
