Nope! That would NOT work at my house. If I was mother, my son would be told to retrieve the bear, and put it back where he got it. It was a sneaky and dishonest thing to do and, sorry, but should be handled immediately.

It just worries me that he thinks that he can just take something from your house.

He was not acting in his usual character.  I think it was just one of those bad teenage choices to impress someone and knowing that the bears had belonged to his sister, he didn't probably even consider that his little cousin thought that much of the bear. That's the sad part of being cousins and of having so many years difference in their ages; two different age levels here. But one cannot mistake it for a selfish act either.

Humiliation just might teach this boy a lesson. I worry that as you get older what is to stop him from abusing you and/or your husband for money and your things. Distressing behaviour...sure he owns the actions but the behaviour needs to stop.
