Re: lustor,
when you help others it makes you realize how fortunate you are and it changes your priorities. each patient i have taken on full time i have done so because i love them and want to help them do what they have to do, get better, just be happier or to help them die.

i doubt that i will have this lady long. i am not god or a doctor, but when you work with sick , older people you get a feeling. we are not promised tomorrow, young, old, sick , or healthy, so love them before they are gone.

Re: cc
my feelings exactly, i am not into the nursing end of this, a nurse can visit them once a week, but they need touch, people that will talk to them, and hopefully make them laugh. i could do this job for free even though it do get paid and it helps out. we need in this country to rethink what is really important, to me quality is everything.
the garden will be there, i have a few, i think 3 earth boxes left, since i gave 3 to my son and i can plant something in them and that can satisfy me till i get to it.

Re: taps,
well i cant, even though i have concerns, if she should have another stroke or heart attack, and for every drink she take or mouth full of food i have to remind her to swallow, and i wonder if she dies on me, how bad would that be?

Re: fsi
yes, it was powerful for me and for her daughter as well, as she offered me the job right after that.

Three heart attacks and three strokes? And she's still alive and kicking! That has to tell you something! Yes, I guess you have to take a job like that after such a sweet embrace! I think the garden will probably become your second priority . . .

I hope your lady's situation impoves so much that she only needs you
every two or three days, so you can still get your hugs and your gardening. Sounds like a very rewarding life you're living in all the ways that count. :)

Poor old dears, what they need is a bit of affection, sadly they rarely get any. Most of the carers I have experienced were more inclined to sit in a chair and drink coffee. I think training should be improved and those most suitable should be paid accordingly, but then most of these organisations are in it for profit. Could you not get your sons or hubby to make you a small raised garden, just to keep your hand in, there are plenty of ideas on the net to show one how they are constructed.

How can a person turn down a job like that?
When I get old enough for a caregiver, if I make it that long, I want one just like you.

The big hug and the kiss on the cheek is a powerful moment you describe there.
