An excellent post! I was momentarily tempted to respond to Utah as well, but resisted temptation because a short answer would have been inadequate and for a long one I had neither time nor energy, LOL. But I am glad you did this!

A well-done analysis on why we cannot vote on every single issue...Having read Jay for three years, I do not think that he is looking to overhaul the system in such a way and was more so lamenting ignorance of the masses.

I of course can't debate your countries politics, I was interested in why
you don't have compulsory voting...in Australia it is compulsory and so we do get a more fair representation of what the majority of people want.

Assumptions and expectations are reasons that most do not function as designed. You are very detailed and that may be a reason the seeing eye to eye may be in conlict. I will not enter the debate. :-)
