Dear adnohr

Poor baby. I guess he is not a baby or he would not have done so well in this scrap but he is your baby. I hope he is doing better now.

adnohr...

Grump (I love that name...) sounds like a very loyal, loving dog who finally had enough from the bully dog next door...and he sounds very brave in his recuperating as well....

Thanks Jay. He's already feeling better - although a little stiff.

I hate to see animals abused, or even to fight. All our dogs would run loose here, and got along fine, until this dumb ass owner showed up. His dogs have already killed 2 smaller dogs in the area - and the police made him get rid of 2 of the 5 he was trying to raise. Apparently the 2 most dangerous, but those left are just as bad. My Grump and Louka, the other neighbor's husky/wolf mix were the only dogs large enough to chase them off when they came here. This time Grump was alone - Louka arrived too late to help out. Maybe just as well. It could have been much worse.

I think he'll be ok, Butterfly. He's already bouncing around wanting to go

outside. But I know what he has in mind (revenge), and he's on complete rest for at least 5 days until he heals, so he gets to stick close to his mistress inside, LOL!

I know, Kabu. Can you imagine if a child had wandered there?

So sad. They are beautiful, huge animals but dangerous because of an incompetent owner.

He is already it seems, FSI. Pits are known for being tough.

I don't know if he got his licks in or not, Jimmy, but I imagine so.:

In fact, I haven't heard those dogs outside since it happened - they bark constantly usually. I'm too angry to question the neighbor at the moment. Don't need a doctor bill to add to this.

I put mine up through Blogit too, CCT, but yesterday they

keep going onto my former post for some reason. Then suddenly it worked out. Have no idea why. I am mothering my poor doggie, and I know I'll have to watch him now. Unless the neighbour's dogs disappear.....

That's the thing, Simone -

I know I won't be able to let him roam free as he once did. He'll be hell bent on revenge. I so wish that neighbour would just MOVE!!!

He's a tough cookie, Blue Feathers.

And also very good at letting me wash his wounds - hardly flinches at all.

LOL, Taps! Yes - I think that would be what we call 'hang-dog'!

He did NOT like the shirt idea at all!! Insult over injury, literally.

posted by adnohr on July 29, 2013 at 11:44 PM | link to this | reply

He is tough, Nautikosm and yes it's painful, but not dangerous

as long as it doesn't get infected. I wash the wounds 3 times a day, put warm compresses on to soften the skin, and he's on antibiotics. The shirt keeps both he and SMooch from licking the wounds. I gave him that scratch on the ears for you.

I didn't see what happened, Pat, but the boys who did told me

Grump was on top of one of the dogs and the other jumped on top of him. Louka arrrived too late to help out - the men had already split it up. No - the vet tells us those dogs are past learning any lesson now - they're too used to biting - and their owner is hopeless.

Oh my God, this looks serious. The neighbors dog got a hold of my old stumpie cat, who was caught in a trap when I found him years before. He lost his front paw and his tail and ears to frost bite, rubbed his teeth to a nub trying to bit through the thing. He was of course a rescue cat who I just could not let go. After the attack the vet we took him to never even shaved his wounds, or cleaned them, as far as I could see. Do make sure he stays on his antibiotics and watch for signs of infection...I know you will, I can feel your love for him and his for you in your words. He will be in my prayers tonight. I believe that God loves all his creatures, large and small, as I know he loves each of us. I will ask Him to bless your pup, to watch over him and to comfort both him and you. I will ask that you sleep well tonight, and that your dreams will be plesent and beautiful. Peace.

So sorry to see this. Sure hope he gets along and heals soon. Looks so painful! Sounds like you both need rest ....

That picture really is an "Awe shucks Mum" picture but that God it was the back and not his neck torn out. I am loathing the owner of those dogs, tragedy waiting to happen...

And i can't help with your pictures except to say that they went in just fine.

My jaw immediately dropped when I opened your blog and saw that pic! Poor Grump! I can only hope that he feels better and will recover quickly, and I also hope that he got his "licks" in against those brutes!

Goodness Adnohr you will have to watch him now

or he will go back  to finish it off.

I would not let anyone else take him out.

Poor old chap needs to be mothered for a bit.

I have no idea how to put photos on here,

I do mine through Blogit but it is a weedy process.

OMG!  Poor Grump... and he is so cute too :-)  He will be ok but he is probably going to hurt for a while... Darn those neighbor doggies... You are going to have to be extra careful from now on... Grump  does not look like the kind of doggie that will let by gones be by gones ...  Sorry he is hurting Adhor... xoxoxo

In that picture on the right, is that what they call "a hang-dog expression"?  LOL. Poor doggie.

Oh, that poor doggie, I'm so sorry! It sickens me seeing them suffer, and this looks bad, but I'm very glad it's no as bad as it looks! He also appears a little begraggled with that shirt on, but I guess he's tough, and I'm sure he'll get over it. Give him a scratch behind the ears from me...

Oh, the poor baby. That looks so painful...

I hope the others learned their lesson... Obviously they ganged up and caught him from behind.
