Saturday we're having a haiku slam (i.e. competition) in Suffern, and we'll probably have about 50 people (a lot come just to listen, which is pretty remarkable!) My opener is going to be the one I posted a few days ago:
'Jever stop to think,
and then forget to start again?
What was I saying?
If it's read right, the listeners don't realize that "That was the poem." and think you're really absent-minded. Two other good ones are
She was at that age
when the Girl Scout you once knew
becomes a cookie.
and
Know that look when she
says "No" but really means "Yes?"
