It doesn't bode well for nature, what with the honey bees
and now our butterflies disappearing. Hopefully they have just changed areas, Justi.

Could you please let me know what you find, TAPS?
One of my friends, a nature nut who lives near here, has only seen a couple this year too. She hadn't paid attention until I mentioned it - but will be looking for more now.

So I guess I'm not the only one missing them BC-A.
A pity - they are so pretty.

LOL - maybe you could send a couple my way, Jimmy!
I've been checking out the plants needed to attract them, but know we already have some growing wild here. It's a little weird, is all, and I do enjoy watching butterflies!

Haven't seen honey bees either, Kabu, and only 2 hummingbirds
and no butterflies.
It seems there are lots in Perth, which is south of you, I think.

Thanks for that, Jay
I'm wondering if they are maybe not coming around the mountains here. My extended family in Ontario tell me they have lots.

If you do happen to notice a lack, FSI
could you let me know? It's just curiosity. Thanks.

I've since read about that, Ciel
But the thing is - I haven't seen any type of colored butterfly at all, monarchs or otherwise.

Oh boy - then we'll be forced to do as the Chinese are doing in
hand pollinating each little flower of at least the fruit trees. Scary thing, Pat_B!

I'll have to go for a little walk tomorrow with this in mind. I haven't paid much attention this year, but there has always been a place over by the lake in the wooded area where monarchs seemed to like the bushes along the east side of the lake.

Not well here
George and I saw an unusually pretty butterfly a few weeks ago and tried to identify it weren't able to do so. We commented then how few we have and since have had almost none of any kind. I love the Monarch too.

My wife actually adores butterflies, and planted a few "butterfly bushes" to attract them. Now, our yard is inundated with them, of all shapes, sizes and color-combinations! A beautiful sight indeed. So, if you're wondering where all the butterflies are, they're here in Jersey . . . !

I have seen more this year Adnohr, Red Admirals especially. Also better class Bumblebees. Oh, by the way when a man holds your hand and studies it, he might be trying to propose always listen carefully. Advice from the Wolds.

we have the yellow ones here lots of those little brown ones and very few of the beautiful blue butterflies that were around last year.
We have heaps of dragonflies which we must have with the mosquitoes and we have tons of bumble bees. I have only seen a humming bird once though. Maybe the bumble bees chase them away. oh and hardly any honey bees.

I have noticed quite a few out in the garden this year, and the tiger swallow tails too, I love to watch them, but not so much those white cabage butterflies, I don't like them .
Here is a picture for you, not one that I took, but a monarch.

The lack of monarchs, the great lessening of them
in their gathering grounds in Mexico has been noted by scientists, and yes, it is the messing with the natural crops that is highly suspect.

I've only seen one or two monarchs, but there have been some
bright yellow ones around, and of course the little white ones the birds love so well. I'm worried the butterflies might be fighting the GMO crops and dying off like the bees have been. We'll be up sh*t crick without our pollinators.
