Not giving up on the story, CCT. The lady won't let me!
You are right. I would feel terrible if I had to shoot an animal that doesn't know better. Am pricing fences at the moment; expect it will be metal though. Wood is expensive here too, and my pits can chew through wood too if they set their mind to it.

Exactly, Jimmy. I even offered once that he call me when he
let his dogs out, and I would keep mine (and my grandchildren too at the time) inside. He agreed, but never called, probably because he's usually drunk when he does let them loose. Now it has degenerated into a neighborly feud....

It would be done already if I had money for lawyers, Justi.
I did the math and a fence is cheaper, much to my poor doggies' disgust. They were used to roaming free on our land here.

They are two bachelor brothers, TAPS, both on medication
for something or other, not sure exactly what. They moved here from the city about 4 years ago, and have been a pain in the butt since they arrived. They obviously know nothing about raising animals.

Our gun laws are more strict than yours, Jay.
The truth is, I don't really want to shoot the animals. It is not their fault. The owner, however....

A good idea, Nautikos.
I'll look into that. Not sure how I could set it up to cover that end of my property though. It's a distance from the house.

It sure does stink, FSI
Before he moved here, our dogs were all loose and playing together on our properties. It takes just one rotten apple.

Ideal, but can you imagine the cost, Wiley?
It would be like putting a fence up around your property. Don't have the $$$.

The petition has been done before, and neighbor was obliged
to give away the two worst dogs of his pack. Other than that the Municipality can do nothing unless his dogs are running loose when the dogcatcher shows up. They are only loose occasionally now. Unfortunately my property is where they decide to hang out when it happens, and it can happen anytime.

True, Ciel, and she's not complaining.
I think she is hurting though, maybe more anxious about the granddaughters than her daughter. When she's ready, she'll talk it over.

I don't know what to advise Adnohr.
If you shot the dogs you would probably feel sick for weeks
and who knows what revenge this man would seek.
If a fence would keep the dogs out, it would be a solution
Wood is very expensive here, but I expect it is more reasonable
in your country. Perhaps some of your family would help erect
a good barrier, It seems so miserable to have to live like this.
Don't give up on your story ,it has a good idea woven into
the basic structure, when you feel more settled perhaps

That seems patently unfair that you might have to go through the expense of putting up a fence, and that nothing can be done until "after the fact!" The camera sounds like a good idea, and may help you to rid yourself of Bob once and for all. It's a shame because it's not really his dog's fault. When you have stupid, inconsiderate owners . . .

I am with naught 100%. If the man comes into your yard have him arrested for trespassing or as Naught said his infringements and prosecute him. Maybe your neighbor would do the same. He needs to go he is an evil person. Keep writing dear one your work is excellent.

First of all let me say how much I love your writing about the lady, it just creeps me out because of my past, and believe me it is realistic. As for not being able to protect your property, now that is a freedom I pray we never lose down here. If a dog comes on my property and attacks one of my animals, or family members I can shot it on the spot, it makes for better neighbors and is a God given right the people of Canada have apparently lost.

This business with that disgusting neighbour is very disturbing! To begin with, I would install a camera that covers your yard and perimeter. They're not terribly expensive, and there are wireless systems that will transmit the signal to a recorder. Then, when you can show that the dogs (and possibly even this idiot Bob) has entered your property again, you can make a strong case for prosecution!

Put up an electric fence like my sis Marg did once to keep her dog in. Seems to me you can make it work on his animals sis.

Obviously the neighbor's vicious dogs take their cue from him.
Wonder if it would help to get up a petition signed by all the neighbors about this threat to the peaceful enjoyment of their homes. What a ball of barbed wire his heart must be by now. I hope it all settles down soon.

I hope Helen takes her daughter's silence in stride.
Everyone has to work out tension and stress, and the sudden relief from it, in her own way. If her daughter needs to not communicate for a while, that's how it is. She is most likely to come around in her own time. Meanwhile, Helen has you and your lively household!
