I think we've all been there, and now it's actually funny to look back upon, thinking that these were such serious issues in our lives. It may not help much, but let her know that, in twenty years or so, she'll be looking back and thinking "I can't believe that mattered to me so much!" She'll chuckle too . . .

perhaps tell her how I have met up in late life with a couple of my early boyfriends...fat and pompous..one of them...the other, ...smelt...he doesn't wash.

Oh boy. I can remember my daughter going through that too. It hurt more watching her pain than any of my own breakups ever did.
