- Go to A KITTEN KEEPER?
I expect it is a dilling, they can survive but remain small, I notice boxes of cat milk in the store, but I would gently return the tiddler to its mother and see if it will feed first, it would save a lot of problems and I hope you have seen that the mother cat has still got milk . I would take the big kitten a away for half an hour and give the tiddler a fighting chance.

This is one of those blogs that I can't let my wife read, or even know about! She absolutely loves cats, and if we lived closer together, would probably volunteer in a heartbeat to assist! Kittens are definitely her "soft spot." Even though it is her first litter, motherly instincts should take over, but it's good that you're helping out. Too bad that one of the kittens didn't make it . . .

Great news about Alexia!
As for the runt, and whether or not the momma is nursing, or even if it is capable, it's possible the reason it's a runt is that something was messed up in the manufacturing process and there's no chance for it. We had a mother rabbit once that didn't like having company, after we peeped in at her she cannibalized all her babies. It was horrific at the time, still makes me kinda sick to think about it. However, I think cats have too much class to do anything so crude.

It's sooo great that little Alexia is doing better! As to the kitten, I'm not sure what to suggest. We've had one case, involving a mother bringing her kittens into the house even though she wasn't our cat - she was a total stranger! But we took them in, and she looked after her kittens extremely well - she didn't need any other help! Actually, this is possibly the topic for a post of my own...

Sending prayers of thanks for Alexia's continuing recovery and re the Kitten...Hmnnnn I think a formula is probably a good idea in asny case even if Mummy is not about to reject her baby. She may not be able to cope with a healthy greedy kitten who will push the little one out ..she may be withdrawing from the little one thinking that it will die. If it starts to thrive with some help everything may settle down.

So glad for the news of Alexia!
As to kittens... I would observe to see if she moves the runt out again, and then if she moves the other to join him. Watch for what happens when he tries to feed. Does she or the other prevent him? Maybe then you will have to feed him with that Kitten Milk Replacer.
First time mother cats can be confused and not be sure what instinct to follow. Maybe she means to move both to a more secure or secluded spot. Or maybe she is aware there is something more wrong with him than size--that he is maybe damaged inside. Or maybe she is just... confused.
I've been through many kittens, and sometimes they move on before they have properly started in the world. Good luck with yours!
