- Go to Armed Intruder Drill
I suppose it is necessary...but so sad that we have come to this.

It's hard to imagine sometimes that we now live in a world where this may become the norm! But remember: there's no gun problem!

PWhere I work we watched a film on the best responses to an armed intruder. First is evacuate, and then block, hide, and as a last resort get the armed intruder, that is, if the armed intruder love. BC-A, Bill’s R®ST

How aweful that this has to be. My little Florida granddaughter is in kindergarten in a public school and probably has those kinds of drills, though I have never asked. My DIL is very seriously thinking of quitting her teaching job and home-schooling Megan and Ryan (5 and 3).

It hurts my heart to read this, Grandma. Children should be safe when they go to school. They shouldn't have to worry about someone setting off bombs or walking into their classrooms with a loaded weapon and injuring or possibly killing them. I am so sorry that T and her friends have to go through this now. But it seems as if there is nowhere safe for children any longer. So many times I have asked myself why people hurt one another...but especially innocent children who have done nothing to provoke such horrific incidents.
I still find it so hard to believe that it has been nearly a year for those poor children from Sandy Hook Elementary school.

The technology changes, but life is pretty much the same
as when there were Cave Bear Drills, I suppose.
I also was growing up in the atomic age, and so I thought of atom bomb attack when we crossed the Triborough Bridge into Manhattan... or maybe it was the Throg's Neck Bridge... that had a sign on it: In case of emergency, drive off bridge. In my mind's eye, all the cars were diving into the water to escape the blast.
