Re: Re: replying to your reply to Jeansaw

I have had quite a few real talks with her darling  Ceil. I told her it is up to her to find happiness and to do things that satisfy her. WE cannot ever rely on others to give us our happiness. The children rightfully are living their lives and making their own decisions. Her husband doesn't want to do anything. He is a waste of space. I told her he is happy, he is never going to change...you have to find what makes you happy.

Well, she is trying. She has started playing tennis and she has a beautiful boarder collie dog that loves her and they walk together. She sews for charity...she is trying, yet the hoarding continues. It is tough for me over here to to do very much for her of course.

Re: replying to your reply to Jeansaw

People need to feel useful and valuable. Maybe she could donate her renovation to a local charity that supports families or individuals trying to recover lives from homelessness.  She sounds like someone who needs someone to need her. Once the current crop of renovated furnishings is moved out of her way, she can get to others. New occupation, new connections... My house cleared up a lot when I realized potentially useful stuff could be donated, not just thrown in the landfill.

I hate waste, but lacked enough room to put things.

re your comment at my post. I agree with you that it is an illness and i do worry about my friend because I think it is a combination of things, one of them being her real fear of change. Her children grew up and she has never really coped withit. She is very proud of them, but cannot understand that people turned 40 do not want Mother breathing down their necks with advice and her idea of what they need in their house etc. Also she will pick up old furniture from the street that is thrown away and is very clever at renovating it but her children want new stuff from Ikea!not what my friends thinks would be good for their homes. The children have excellent incomes and want to make their own decisions...so my friend picks up this stuff and sometimes it never gets renovated but she will tell me that sometime she will get around to it. I think you are right re your mother and your sister. Who really knows how you can help or what might work. I am sure that your Sister did her best.

Absolutely gorgeous! That's the kind of tree my wife would love to have somewhere on our property. I hope the cold snap doesn't hurt it . . .

That is just lovely. Can you throw an old blanket or something over it gently. I really love it.

That's lovely!

We used to have one when I was a kid living in Glen Cove, Long Island.
