Well I shall certainly try a small patch with straw, I did read years ago that a woman in America used hay over her garden and planted through it, but I never liked the idea.

naughty husband...and I wonder what the neighbors are saying!!! Thank you for letting us know that the garden survived. I know that I feel relieved. all your work and that lovely tree. I keep going back to look at the picture.
