I expressed these same kinds of concerns to my son-in-law,
The one who has had, essentially, a gobal job for the past many years. He said that the world reality now is that the primary product of the US from here on is going to be information and information technologies, rather than material goods.
That isn't a great answer for the current generation of factory folk who are losing jobs.

the reason is the cost of labor is hardly nothing and the laws and rules are negligible if any to protect the worker...so guess where they have everything made?!!!!

More people need to notice that, and to do our best to buy local produce if at all possible. Unfortunately local is usually more expensive, but if that type of selection is done by the majority it could force big corporations to bring the jobs back home.

Well Jean only this week my old neighbor said he was throwing a wrought iron long seat away. He must have had it for years as most of the wooden parts had rotted away. Anyway I rubbed the remaining wood with some cleaner I was wondering if I should paint the metal black but the seat was so heavy to move and I just put a temporary plank to replace the seat I thought it would do to stand some pots on. I estimated it to be 20 0r 30 years old. I rubbed my hand along the back , Surprise, surprise a small label pealed off.; Made in China.

It is a shame to see how few things we have are made in the USA. Sadly, I do not see things changing.

Tis the same in Australia...all made in China...I don't buy much anymore. but one does buy food and one does have to be careful. We used to buy some lovely mandarine segments...then were warned that they were grown in human waste...so we don't buy them anymore and cannot get local. No it isn't the twilight zone love, it is unfortuantely reality.

No, you're not in an episode of the Twilight Zone! Those shows were much more creative! What you're experiencing is the end result of manufacturers going out of their way to get 'cheap labor' from wherever they can, so that more and more profits can end up in their pockets! Some companies have tried getting their products made in America again, but have met with certain types of resistance. Perhaps some day . . .
