Sorry, I'm distracted by the notion of Naut in black silk undies...
My dad very rarely got caught out in a slip of the tongue--he always thought before he spoke. Almost always. Somehow the dinner table conversation got around to black lace underwear, and Mom said, "I've seen worse figures than mine in black lace panties." Dad, meaning to play the Poor Old Me card, said mournfully, "I haven't."
He realized just as the words left his mouth that there could be another way to hear that. While he was busy explaining that he meant he hadn't had the opportunies to see any figures in black lace, we were all delighting in the vision of his foot in his mouth.
