Re: Re: Kermit
God supports "the belief of unbelievers" because He gave man the right to make the choice for himself. Because God does not change he will not retract, He will not push to convince in anyway when a choice of unbelief has been made by a human. That is why a Christian and an Atheist can read the same passages in the Scriptures and one receive heart-felt holy sustenance while the other receives nothing but their own intellectual reasoning. One of my most beloved promises is found in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths."

Re:
Thank you Taps.
The argument that there is no contradiction between the genealogies of Matthew and of Luke feels sound.
I had thought that other minor mistakes, that cannot be explained away, would cause the fundamentalist to question his doctrine.
I had not known about the rationalization that apparent contradictions were delibertly inserted in order to support the belief of unbelievers.
I can make use of that argument in my future writing.
I am searching for the Bible reference for that rationalization.
I have found

Second Peter, Chapter 3, verses 15 through 17.
15 And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, 16 as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. 17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. 18 But sgrow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
Again, thank you.

You might find this site interesting (although you probably already are aware of such): http://www.apologeticspress.org/apcontent.aspx?category=6&article=932
The Bible says in so many words (I can't call to mind chapter and verse at the moment) that apparent discrepancies in scripture are there for a reason. And, that reason is to give skeptics who do not want to believe an escape, a reason to refuse to believe; while those who come to him in faith, believing, have no problems with such.
A very timely post.
