JAH-gyu-ar and Ni-ca-RAH-gyu-a, which are also Brit pronuciations. Or ath-a-lete, which is definitely Ammurican.

I believe the Brits say it the same way you do. And I agree that it is spelled differently. My peeve has nothing to do with that type of thing.

on aluminium then? in australia we say al-u-min-ee-um. whereas americans say alum-in-um. although i think you guys spell it differently as well!

I understand that there are inflections and accents. That's not my problem. And "pasketti," I think, is something children say more than adults. Even I say things with an accent depending on the situation. In Hawaii, many people say "tree" for "three"; "dare" for "there"; etc. It's all part of our pidgin English. However, I know how to pronounce words correctly as well. This is not to say that I am all knowing; God knows I am not. There are just some words that people all over the globe pronounce incorrectly, and it bugs me to no end.

I think its all in where you are raised
or by who? How about pasketi instead of spagetti? Or cimumum instead of cinnamon. My daughter says pan-a-cake, and I say winda and casina, instead of window and casino. I also add R's to words.
