That's great. I love to hear/read early memories from childhood. I have many of those.

Re: Naut

All these divorces cannot be good for a young child I expect there is a lot of hidden stress.

Yep, you've got it! A kid's mind is really a tabula rasa, or an empty pot, if you wish, and some of the things that get filled in kind of stick to the bottom or to the sides, and make for cultural and individual differences...

You have some vivid, fleeting memories there. I remember when I caught Chicken Pox. What happened was that my mother was in a car accident with my sister and I (other driver was at fault). She was able to get a doctor's appointment that day where a baby had chicken pox. I got it from the baby. Ann, my sister, got it from me.

Re: Kabu
Well in those days there not not many luxuries. A raw swede to chew
or a stick of rhubarb. Never mind it made one appreciate little treats
my mum said they used to search for sticks of sugar beans in the cattle troughs.
Happy new year to you both.

If you had not had that second ice cream,
they'd have thought you were ill. But I could confess things I have felt guilty over since I was tiny, too.

Grampa would have been betting on your second helping of ice cream especially since the fair was a bit of a disappointment...love this poem...what guilt a child can carry but it shows the child knew it was a bit naughty.
Happy New Year old chap and many more to share on Blogit with us your friends.
