Interesting, but I think I must disagree that only humans make music and dance. I've seen plenty of nature shows where various animals ( and insects ) make all sorts of 'music,' and do an awful lot of dancing, usually to attract a mate. Perhaps it's only we humans who do these things for pleasure and/or entertainment . . .

Wonderful post, gave this old man a lot of memories of my Brit mum on the piano and all 10 of us singing during the war when my 3 brothers got home on leave to Montréal. Lovely and thanks for posting.

nice post Ghee...and isn't it wonderful to watch a baby stand on those delicious little plump legs bopping away in time to the music. Yes all people should sing and dance and explore the arts ...don't need to be an expert. I always enjoy aquarobics because with the weightless feel and music, one can dance under the water and who cares what you look like.

A lot of very interesting stuff. Maybe I should dig out some material I have on the so-called 'Mozart Effect' (that doesn't apply just to Mozart's music, but to 'classical' music generally) if I can find it. Research suggests all kinds of benefits, especially to children, but adults as well...

BTW: I met Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller back in September '13 when they were in Toronto...
