I'm afraid that I've never taken writing seriously. The last employment years were that of a nurse, which I enjoyed, it payed well, but it really wore me out. I used writing as a way to relax and forget about work. I can't even imagine making my living by writing.

Re:
That's really great to hear. I'm hoping to have the same kind of ongoing freedom myself. The idea of going back to a desk job at an office makes me want to puke.

Re: GheeGhee
WileyJohn, I've heard that when you self publish, that you should give away at least 500 books and let word of mouth take over from there. I'm not a writer but it works in my business. I give away my time for friends and family of those that I know will refer folks to me. It still surprises me when people say wonderful things about me. It always brings me business.

I work at home mostly myself. The freedom is wonderful. Motivatin is all on me. I had an offer recently to be an assistant manager of a chain of plant nurceries. Had I been well enough to do the job, I would had love being around people. But that would also mean that I would again be at someone elses schedule. But if I were to take a job, it would be something around plants or pets. Corp America left a horrible taste in my mouth.
I have been fortunate enough that most of the time I can do well at home. It's like riding a harley without risk of face on pavement.

A great post you wrote so let me ask you this. Have you ever thought of marketing from your own website?
I am too 'senior' to do it myself but let me ask you this. On Amazon I have a book 'Love and Sobriety' by John Wiley, if you had a website maybe you could market it off your own website better than Amazon or the other marketing guru that doesn't do anything.
Anyway, a suggestion, others may be interested and we all pay you a commission?

How can one write on some of those topics? Where on earth does one find info...or does one just endorse their ptoduct and hope they accept. I should try it sometime, but most only want writers in America.

I can't say I blame you. I'm sure many of us would love to 'work at home' as well, but sometimes ya gotta do what you gotta do! And when you're able to stand those paint-covered sweatpants in the corner, it may be time to change them . . .

At times, it can be very tough to find inspiring and interesting material to write about.
