Re:
C C T that is insane. everyone I know who had satellite was disappointed with it and had problems with their provider. I never went that route.

Well I hope you have an easier job of canceling your supplier than I did. I had satellite
tele which I hardly used, but it was not just a matter of canceling the direct debit. They needed a written letter and then verbal confirmation over the phone which took nearly an hour. However all is rosy now they keep sending me offers that do not apply to others.

Re: GG
Naut...see what cableites are missing with their reality shows and CSI copycat shows? I love the digital antenna channels, and having Netflix. I also subscribe to Hulu and to a few internet channels For my K-drama fix. I will have to blog about that tomorrow. Way cheaper than cable, and total control.
Sadly we still have basic cable service for the super-old living room TV, but cable only comes with the networks, WB, Fox and Telemundo--$55 per month for basic crapola. when we replace the living room TV we are canceling cable altogether.

Re:
Jimmy, Some Like It Hot is one of my all time favorites! I. Don't have cable, but I rarely watch modern movies. We occasionally hit the theaters, but I prefer those studio masterpieces.

Re: gh
jean, my neighbors still shell out a small fortune for satellite, and never stop complaining about nothing being on. I love Grit! I'm about to flip it on to watch Conan the Barbarian (what can I say, Arnold was hot then).

We just have basic cable service, and don't really get that much. I've been thinking of suscribing to Netflix...I really liked Jack Lemmon, he was an great actor, but I never knew he also was a pianist - live and learn, LOL...:)

I too am a big fan of the older movies, but the only movies with Jack Lemmon I was familiar with were The Apartment, The Odd Couple and Some Like It Hot. I'll have to check out those you've listed. And if you have Turner Movie Classics on your cable system, you'll probably never watch a 'modern' movie ever again . . .

It is wonderful how readily available movies and shows are on. We do not have to wait any more for channels to air reruns and movies.
