Hey, venting is good. It actually helps reduce blood pressure . . . I think! And I guess I'm lucky. My wife and I take our marriage vows very seriously . . .

In fact, your situation is not as uncommon as you may think.
My own is not unlike yours.
Maybe the valentine is his sense of responsibility; maybe the words are about saying the proper and expected thing. Maybe he feels love for you when you are far away, a kind of love that works for him, but isn't "love" for you.
Attachment isn't always about love, despite surrounding social norms and expectations, or traditional ideals . Sometimes it comes from habit, sometimes it comes down to fear. If you want to change your situation, then I suggest you consider what it is you are afraid of.
