What about the bear scratching at the door. Or getting some logs in to keep warm. I don't think bears roam much in winter so you might be OK.

Some writers need the busy-ness of the city, the coffee shops, the
elbow rubbing with other writers and thinkers, to activate their pen (keyboard). That cabin in the woods would lose it's charm after the third time they had to chop wood and build a fire before they could cook breakfast.
