Re:
Of course, lovelylady! I would never begrudge anyone in here for falling somewhat behind on various posts. Hey, there's a lot of us posting in here! It's tough sometimes to keep up with everyone! That being said, thanks for the warm wishes and sympathies. My wife is still upset over losing our Smokey, and I miss her terribly as well. Now the other kitties will get even more lovin's . . .

Jimmy,
First of all, I'm so sorry for the loss of your furry friend. Hugs to you and your wife. Secondly, I must apologise for being such a bad friend to you and not reading you of late. Hope we're still friends?

Re: Re: Re:
That too is unbelievably sad. They have more feelings and emotions than most people give them credit for . . .

Re: Re:
Oh that breaks your heart all over again. My Son when we were living in a double flat situation had two cats and one died young and Josephine used to go and lie on his grave. Talk about break your heart.

Re:
Believe it or not, C C T, that would be a greater undertaking than you could possibly imagine, especially involving the area we would be using. A month from now we may have had a chance. But right now, I would need a sledgehammer just to get through the ice! No, my wife has already made her decision, and what's done is done . . .

Re:
Thanks, adnohr. Yes, it is very difficult. Like I wrote, there's now a certain feeling of 'emptiness' whenever we go into the cat's room. And the other kitties know something ( or someone ) is missing too. It's very sad . . .

Re: jimmy
Understandable, jean. Like I wrote, I believe this was the first cat my wife has had cremated ( she has had cats all her life ). In a way, I'm actually somewhat surprised my wife would do this, but Mother Nature is being very difficult with our yard, and this was, I suppose, her only other option . . .

It sure is, Sir Wiley. It seems like just yesterday we brought her home! Where does the time go . . . ?

We did indeed, FSI. We treat all our kitties especially well, and Smokey was no exception. I will really miss her . . .

Re:
Thanks, Kabu. Yes, the fact that she didn't suffer long was one small consolation. And the other cats have already begun "looking" for Smokey. Seeing that is almost as sad as losing her . . .

I feel your loss Jimmy couldn't you clear the snow away and douse the ground with hot water. Or wrap Smokey in an old blanket and pack snow around her until it began to thaw a bit?

I am sorry about the loss both you and your wife experienced. My heart goes out to you both. A very interesting history behind Smokey. You and your wife gave her a wonderful home.

I am really sorry Jimmy. THis is tough and yes it sounds like a massive heart attack and there will eventually be comfort in knowing that she did not have time to suffer. I really hate the fact that their lives are so much shorter than ours, cos it hurts. Give yourself time to grieve...and the other cats will grieve as well. Sending hugs to you, to your beautiful wife and all the animals family members.
