Re: cct
spring is in full swing here. and it caught me not really ready, but i guess i can catch up and if not be in time for summer. the bees stay really close to the hive, mostly in the hive, you only see them going and coming.

Re:naut
the honey is the best, but the part i like is looking into the hive and feeling one with the bee.

it is a lesson in patience for me to be here alone and having to do everything, but we do our best and leave the rest.

Don't overwhelm yourself! That won't accomplish anything! Pace yourself, and get prepared for lots and lots of honey! And I hope that queen isn't out cavorting, that buzzy whore . . .

I love honey. I do not use ordinary sugar, only honey and pure maple syrup. Take it
easy with the digging. Actually, that sounds like something your 91 year old neighbor
might volunteer and do (Mr. Atlas).

I think it may be a bit cold for bees and yet I saw a queen wasp last week. I don't like killing things but I don't want them building in the house.A few wasps are not a bad thing for us as they take the little caterpillars, but I like the nest to have been built elsewhere. I would like some bees ,but we are to close to neighbors to feel happy about having them. My cousin had a swarm of bees in her roof eventually there were removed
by a bee keeper with a vacuum utensil./

Bees are fun - my Mom used to keep bees for a while, even though we lived in the city (the suburbs, of course). They did well, and we enjoyed our 'homemade' honey...

Bit worried about the bees but I truly don't know anything about bee keeping, just hope there is a Queen there somewhere. And remember darling we are not kids anymore and the yard doesn't have to look like a show pony either. A few leaves and a bit of grass...it just helps the insect life to thrive which helps the bird life to thrive which in turn helps new grasses flowers and trees to grow which encourages small animals to reside.

Bringing back memories of doing the hives as a child, Jeansaw. We learned so much there, my brother and me. I love honeycomb!! You're a wise lady by talking yourself out of being anxious. It never helps anyway, just compounds whatever problem you're dealing with. One thing at a time. I feel it will be a boy.
