Bill I'd like to make an additional comment. Being you mentioned ''invent'' and

''industrial arts'' I can't help and think of innovation. When I think of innovation

Europe comes to mind. I would think any country outside of the Western Europe

ones should put a considerable amount of emphasis on these programs to keep up.

Thanks for the Springsteen Bill, and informing me you were not talking about a

Led Zepp. bassist. I would say absolutely keep the programs. Long as the schools

are keeping up with technology. I would think some of the Vo-Tech programs would

come in handy with the little U.S. rebound in manufacturing. Yes, U.S. makers day.

A Makers Day would be fantastic and shop classes should definitely continue....for a multitude of reasons...just like they should have home economics classes, home management classes, practical living classes....classes that prepare them for living out on their own, able to function in a home, raising a family.  Too many of them aren't learning those things at home now since both parents are working, everyone running different schedules, faces buried in technology.  Studies are showing the American 'millenials' are the poorest performing employees in generations when it comes to actually performing - there are, after all, far more important job skills required than running computers.  Additionally, the sense of accomplishment that comes from making something with your own two hands...and the part of the brain stimulated.....well, I didn't mean to write a post in my response....but then, I never do....heavy sigh....

All of my sons took industrial arts classes in high school and have used various and sundry things from that throughout their lies.  I would hate for it to fall by the wayside in modern times.
