Yes I agree with you 100%. I used to work for a toy store and we had a summer reading club. We managed to get 100s of kids signed up each year. We made it fun for them. Now the libraries also have them.

Well, I've always been a reader, definitely over 100 a year although I don't keep formal count. I always read one a day as a kid and am back to that as a retiree...plus, I watch TV...can you say OCD!!! Right now I have 20 pages of books on my Kindle. And, I'm going to split from the group here and question that there aren't so many readers out there....I see them everywhere...look at all the books on Amazon, Bookbub, they are everywhere at my job, stuck in every corner. Now, and this is going to sound horribly sexist, most of them I see are women...except when I fly and then I see a lot of men reading books. Maybe women have more to escape from.......

This post makes me want to keep track of the books I read this year--only, I have no idea what I've read since 2015 began. All I know for sure is the one I read last, and the one I'm reading now, and one from a friend that I read half of and not sure I want to finish it.

I cannot remember not reading...before I started school I know..I read every day but that isn'r nerdie. That is continually learning and growing and travelling oh so much froom books. i love to walk into an old Library and just breath in the odor of old books.
Reality TV and paying nearly $100 to watch two men box the daylights out of each other...to me that's Nerdie... I love your goal.

I enjoy reading as well...I remember when I was in school in the 90s and in the 00s that few people read for leisure. I imagine that since then, it has gotten worse. It is too bad because one can spend some quality time reading.

Well I read but I rarely watch the television these days. So I agree entirely with you.

Here's a big high five from one dork to another one! My Mom taught me to read before I entered school (which produced a problem once I did start school, LOL), and I have never stopped. Okay, I haven't read the Harry Potter books, and probably never will (I did read the whole Hobbit series though) and my gaming consists of chess and poker, but I usually have several books going simultaneously...But your hubby is right - most people don't read much at all, which is why ignorance is endemic...
